Recording Studios

Metropolis Studios
West London, England

Metropolis Studios were started in 1989, occupying a former Chiswick power station. The power station was built in 1901 and used for that purpose until 1920.

Parts of Queen's Innuendo and Made In Heaven were recorded at Metroplis. The video for Headlong was filmed there, showing off the studio in the process. All sessions for the charity project Rock Aid Armenia were also recorded there, along with a video and a documentary.

Mountain Studios
Mountreux, Switzerland

In 1975, Mountain Studios was built in the then new Montreux Casino by Tom Hidley. Queen first recorded there in 1978 for their album "Jazz". Queen were impressed with the fascilities and bought the studio for their own use the following year. David Richards, who joined the studio in 1977, went on to produce and engineer many of Queen's albums and their solo efforts.

Parts of Jazz, Hot Space, A Kind Of Magic, The Miracle, Innuendo, and Made In Heaven were all recorded at the studio. Solo efforts including Back To The Light, Barcelona, Fun In Space, Strange Frontier, Shove It, and Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know were all in part recorded there as well.

David Richards took full ownership of the studio in the mid 1990s and moved it to nearby Attalens, Switzerland. Richards owned the studio up until his death in 2013.
