Olympic Sound Studios London, England The Olympic Sound Studios was built in 1906 and served as a theatre and later a cinema. The building was used in the 1950s as a television studio until it was purchased by Olympic Sound Studios for commercial recording. The studio was used by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and many other famous acts of the 70s. Queen recorded portions of A Night At The Opera and The Miracle there. The studio was closed by Virgin in 2009. It has since been converted into a cinema. |

The Town House Studios West London, England The Town House was built in 1978 by Richard Branson as part of his Virgin Studios Group. The studio was known for it's drum sound, which can be heard on the Phil Collins hit In The Air Tonight. The building also housed a mastering department called The Town House Cutting Room. A few solo releases were also recorded there including parts of Barcelona, Shove It, and Back To The Light. After several ownership changes, the studios closed in May 2008. |

Mountain Studios Mountreux, Switzerland In 1975, Mountain Studios was built in the then new Montreux Casino by Tom Hidley. Queen first recorded there in 1978 for their album "Jazz". Queen were impressed with the fascilities and bought the studio for their own use the following year. David Richards, who joined the studio in 1977, went on to produce and engineer many of Queen's albums and their solo efforts. Parts of Jazz, Hot Space, A Kind Of Magic, The Miracle, Innuendo, and Made In Heaven were all recorded at the studio. Solo efforts including Back To The Light, Barcelona, Fun In Space, Strange Frontier, Shove It, and Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know were all in part recorded there as well. David Richards took full ownership of the studio in the mid 1990s and moved it to nearby Attalens, Switzerland. Richards owned the studio up until his death in 2013. |
