Album Info
After years of development, the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody
was released in theaters on October 24, 2018 in the UK. The film was a critical
and box office success, earning over $900 million worldwide. The film won
Best Motion Picture - Drama at the 76th Golden Globes and was nominated
for best picture at the Academy Awards. Lead actor Rami Malek won best actor
at the Academy Awards, British Academy Film Awards, and Golden Globes.
Bohemian Rhapsody: The Original Soundtrack, produced by Brian May and Roger
Taylor, was released as a download and on CD format in both the UK and US
on October 19, 2018. The soundtrack was a huge success, reaching #3 in the
UK and #2 in the US, the band's best US chart placement since 1980. The
new wave of Queen popularity extended to their entire catalog in the US,
including The Platinum Collection which charted at #9, giving Queen two
simultaneous top 10 albums on the Billboard chart. The Platinum Collection
would reach #6 the following year.
Bohemian Rhapsody featured a mix of Queen hits, live performances, unique
mixes, and revisited tracks. Doing All Right... revisited features newly
recorded parts by the original Smile lineup of Brian May, Roger Taylor,
and Tim Staffell. Don't Stop Me Now... revisited features new guitar parts
recorded by May especially for the soundtrack. The famous Live Aid performance
is partially included, omitting Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will
Rock You, and Is This The World We Created.
The soundtrack was made available on vinyl on February 8, 2019 and as a
2 LP picture disc for Record Store Day in April of that year.

Consisting of 66 tracks of Brian May's guitar and Roger Taylor's percussion,
the famous 20th Century Fox fanfare theme was reimagined for the opening
of Bohemian Rhapsody. Movie goers had little doubt that this was indeed
a Queen movie.
Somebody To Love
Doing All Right... revisited
Doing All Right... revisited 3:16
Appears on: Bohemian
Rhapsody: The Original Soundtrack, Track 3
The Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack is an interesting blend of hits, revisited
classics and excellent live performances. One of the revisited classics
(and a standout track on the album) is a new Smile version of Doing All
Right. Brian May and Tim Staffell reunited at Abbey Road studios in May
2018 to record new vocals and in Tim's case, a new bass performance. Original
multitracks from the Queen and Smile sessions were mixed with new guitar
parts from Brian and bass guitar from Tim. A new lead vocal performance
from Roger was recorded later and mixed into this new version. The song
begins with Roger contributing the aforementioned lead vocals to the first
verse. The second verse features Tim's newly recorded lead vocal, whereas
the third verse starts with classic Staffell vocals from 1969 and ends with
current-day performance. The final verse is sung by Brian, whose vocals
are double tracked. All three sing harmony during the chorus parts, sounding
just as good (if not better) than they 50 years ago.
Keep Yourself Alive (Live at the Rainbow)
Keep Yourself Alive (Live At The
Rainbow Theatre, 1974 - Soundtrack Version) 3:56
Appears on: Bohemian
Rhapsody: The Original Soundtrack, Track 4
The Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack features a mix of hits, revisited songs
and some excellent live tracks. Keep Yourself Alive from the March 1974
Rainbow Theatre concert is presented here with a unique edit. At 3:56, one
would assume it may just be the US Promo Single Version, but that is not
the case. While similar to that version, the intro monologue by Freddie
is a bit different. Details below:
- Album (FairyFeller ending): "I'll tell you what, it's time you all joined
in, everybody. And I know you know the words to this one. All you've got
to do is clap along, sing along the choruses. It's called...
- Album (KYA intro): "Keep Yourself Alive!"
- US Promo Single Version: "And I know you know the words to this one. All
you've got to do is clap along, sing along the choruses. It's called Keep
Yourself Alive!"
- Soundtrack Version: "I'll tell you what, it's time you all joined in,
everybody. It's called Keep Yourself Alive!"

Fat Bottomed Girls (Live In Paris
- February 27, 1979) 4:37
Appears on: Bohemian
Rhapsody: The Original Soundtrack, Track 6
This is a surprising standout song from the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack.
While most listeners were anxiously awaiting revisited tracks and Live Aid,
this live version is a highlight of the album. To wrap up their 1979 European
tour, Queen performed three nights in a row at the Pavillon de Paris. This
excellent performance of Fat Bottomed Girls comes from the first night.
Bohemian Rhapsody
Bohemian Rhapsody (Single Version)

Appears on: Bohemian
Rhapsody: The Original Soundtrack, Track 7
This is the stand-alone version, which allows the gong hit at the end to
fade out naturally. On the album, the gong's last few seconds overlap with
the drums on God Save The Queen, but you would have to listen very closely
to notice. The Single Version would be used for collections, single releases,
soundtrack albums and just about every other appearance of the song outside
the album.
Now I'm Here (Live at Hammersmith Odeon)
Now I'm Here (Live at the Hammersmith
Odeon, December 1975 - Soundtrack Version) 4:25
Appears on: Bohemian
Rhapsody: The Original Soundtrack, Track 8
The Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack is an interesting blend of hits, revisited
classics and excellent live performances. Included on that release is Now
I'm Here, live from Hammersmith 1975. This version does not include Bob
Harris' intro, instead it starts with crowd noise, followed by Brian's guitar
intro. This version ends after the big drum/guitar ending with some quick
crowd noise. This is similar to the version used on the 2011 remaster Bonus
EP, but not exactly the same.

Love Of My Life (Live in Rio)
Love Of My Life (Live at Rock In

Appears on: Bohemian
Rhapsody: The Original Soundtrack, Track 10
The Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack features a new mix of the January 18, 1985
performance of Love Of My Life at Rock In Rio. For the soundtrack, all of
Brian's interactions with the audience have been removed.
We Will Rock You (Movie Mix)
We Will Rock You (Movie Mix) 2:09
Appears on: Bohemian
Rhapsody: The Original Soundtrack, Track 11
The movie mix of We Will Rock You parallels with the creation of the song
as depicted in the motion picture. From 0:00 to 0:51 it's the album version
that we all know and love. Suddenly, at 0:52, the track transitions into
a live performance. It is unknown what concert this is taken from, but the
recording and performance sounds good. At first, this mix is a little jarring,
but it works well in relation to what happens in the movie.

I Want To Break Free
I Want To Break Free (Soundtrack
Mix) 3:43
Appears on: Bohemian
Rhapsody: The Original Soundtrack, Track 13
The Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack is an interesting compilation of hits,
live performances and a few new takes on classic tracks. Nestled in the
middle is this unlisted mix of I Want To Break Free. This version takes
the "Greatest Hits II Single Mix CD Edit" minus the synth instrumental section
from 2:32 to 3:07. It surprisingly isn't noticeable and sounds very natural.
A very effective edit.

Don't Stop Me Now... revisited

Appears on: Bohemian
Rhapsody: The Original Soundtrack, Track 21
Don't Stop Me Now was revisited with a new mix and some new performance
elements on the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack. Brian May recorded new guitar
parts to make the song sound much closer to how the band plays the track
live with Adam Lambert. Roger's drums also have a different sound in this
mix, whether it be due to EQ choices, possible samples/triggers or just
the mix itself. Freddie's outro is slightly different, ending the song
with a different mood. This is a nice alternative to the album version
and preferred to the "Long-Lost Guitars" version.
