Album Info
Meant to possibly bookend his solo work, Fun On Earth was
Roger Taylor's fifth solo album. The title is a play on Roger's debut album
Fun In Space. Following the end of the Queen + Paul Rodgers project, Roger
intermittently began working on new solo material in his home studio, The
Priory.
The Unblinking Eye (Everything Is Broken), a protest song, predating the
album by four years. Available initially as a download single and video,
the track was made available on CD single in January 2010 through Queenonline.com,
limited to 1,000 copies. An instrumental version was included as a bonus
track. The Fun On Earth album version is abridged.
Fun On Earth was released on November 11, 2013, the same day as the Roger
Taylor career spanning box set, The Lot, which added two bonus tracks to
the album. A 2 LP picture disc version was released the following April
for Record Store Day. A black vinyl edition was made available in October
2014. Both vinyl editions include The Lot bonus tracks. The album charted
at #69 in the UK.
No further singles were released, however Sunny Day did get the video treatment
and was the track primarily advertised. Sunny Day is an updated version
of the Felix And Arty (Roger Taylor and son Felix) track Woman, You're So
Beautiful. One Night Stand was originally recorded for the previous album
Electric Fire. A Real Media version was made available at the time on Roger's
website; the Fun On Earth version is reworked and re-recorded. Say It's
Not True originated from the 46664 concerts and studio sessions. A studio
version from 2003 never materialized. The track was reworked for the Queen
+ Paul Rodgers album The Cosmos Rocks. The version on this album was recorded
in Roger's studio with Jeff Beck while rehearsing for a live performance.
Small and Whole House Rockin' were also recorded for The Cosmos Rocks; Roger
solo versions appear here.

One Night Stand (1998 Version) 3:45
Appears on: Internet Exclusive Download, Electric
Fire CD-R promo
This track first appeared as a Real Media file from Roger Taylor's official
website promoting Electric Fire. Because the only way to hear it was to
enter the code "one night stand" when prompted and to have it stream via
Real Media player, this original release always sounded kind of murky and
ran too slow, likely the result of poor Real Media streaming issues, all
drawbacks of the technology of the day. In the years that followed, a high
quality version has been leaked to the collecting community, sourced from
a test pressing "acetate" CD-R and at last fans could hear the song in proper
digital clarity. The song itself has some nice guitar and a heavy beat which
keeps it interesting. Worth finding.
One Night Stand (1998 Version - The Lot Mix) 3:53
Appears on: The
Lot
The Roger Taylor career-spanning box set The Lot features what is called
the 1998 version of One Night Stand. However, it is not the original version
that appears on the CD-R acetate or as a Real Media download. The Lot Mix
is about 17 seconds longer and features added instrumental bits between
the vocals in the first verse.

Whole House Rockin' was originally intended for the Queen + Paul Rodgers
studio album The Cosmos Rocks. To fit the album's theme, the lyrics and
title were changed, thus Whole House Rockin' became Cosmos Rockin', the
opening track. The Lot version of Fun On Earth features Roger's solo take
on the song, which is more straight forward and less silly. The track is
exclusively available on The Lot boxset and Fun On Earth vinyl.

Dear Mr. Murdoch was a track from Roger's 1994 solo album, Happiness. In
2011, a new, stripped down mix of the song was released as a download single.
In 2013, this version was renamed the Nude Mix and included on the Fun On
Earth vinyl and CD from The Lot box set.

Roger Taylor's new official website, rogertaylorofficial.com, was launched
to coincide with the release of Fun On Earth and The Lot box set. A previously
unreleased instrumental track, entitled The Shores Of Formentera, was embedded
into the website as background music. The track is mostly instrumental with
the occasional harmony "oooh" and "ahhh" from Roger.
If you are savy enough, it is possible to rip the MP3 from the website.
It is unknown when this was written or recorded, but due to the timing of
release, the song is generally associated with Fun On Earth.
