Album Info
Queen's fourteenth studio album, Innuendo, is considered
a creative return-to-form for the band and proved to be the final original
material released during Freddie Mercury's lifetime. Released on February
4, 1991, it landed atop of the UK album charts, debuting at number 1 and
eventually reaching platinum status. Innuendo came out one day later in
the US, the band's first commercial product on their new record label Hollywood
Records. The album peaked at number 30 there, reaching gold sales status.
For the original 1991 vinyl and the 2009 re-release, eight tracks were edited
to fit the album on a single LP. The full, unedited album was made available
in 2015 as a 2 LP set.
Four singles were released to support the album. The title track, Innuendo,
came out three weeks prior and like the album, peaked at number 1. Further
singles include I'm Going Slightly Mad (UK 22), Headlong (UK 14) and The
Show Must Go On (UK 16). After Freddie Mercury's death on November 24, 1991,
Bohemian Rhapsody and These Are The Days Of Our Lives were released as a
double A-side, reaching number 1 in the UK.
Several unfinished tracks such as Grande Dame and Affairs were attempted
during the album sessions and remain unreleased. Lost Opportunity featuring
Brian on lead vocals, was recorded in January 1991 just after the album
was completed; the track was released as a B-Side to I'm Going Slightly
Mad. Other tracks such as My Secret Fantasy, Robbery, and Self Made Man
were recorded around this time period; it is unknown if they were part of
the proper Innuendo sessions or recorded just after.

Written by Freddie, but later credited to Queen, I'm Going Slightly Mad
is a bit of a departure from other songs in the Queen catalog. The Mad Mix
was found on a 1990 stereo master tape. As odd as the album version is,
this mix is even stranger. Featuring more sound effects and odd bits, this
would be right at home as a Brian Wilson composition. Not as good as the
album version, but still interesting.

Headlong started off as a solo track for Brian's upcoming Back To The Light

to be a Queen track. This early version of the song is instrumentally stripped
down a bit, but still very similar to the final version. Additionally, Brian
provides lead vocals, giving some idea to what a solo version may have sounded
like.

An early demo version featuring Freddie on lead vocals and Brian on backing

also present. Freddie's vocals are very similar to the final version. Brian's
guide vocals can be slightly heard in the background. An interesting working
version of the track.

Appears on: 13 Track Preview cassette for Capitol Records
In late 1988, a 13 track cassette was sent by Queen to executives at Capitol
Records in the USA. The cassette served as a preview to their new, as of
yet unnamed album. The cassette had excerpts of work-in-progress song versions
to satisfy the curiosities of Capitol Records. Five of those tracks have
leaked freely amongst traders (Scandal, Too Much Love Will Kill You, The
Invisible Man, I Want It All, and The Miracle). All God's People began life
as a Freddie solo track pre-Barcelona. When Barcelona came along, his current
solo project was discarded in favor of his duet with Montserrat Caballé.
The rumor is that Brian was going to play guitar on this track and Freddie
was going to lend some vocals to Brian's yet to be finished album. As Freddie
and the band became aware of his health, plans changed. All God's People
ended up becoming a Queen track, finally becoming fully realized on the
Innuendo album. This version features some different vocal bits from Freddie
as well as some unique guitar bits from Brian. The backing track doesn't
seem to be very different in this clip.

wrote this one.

A really neat demo featuring both Brian and Freddie on vocals. Mostly synthesizer,
bass, and drums with a guitar solo from Brian. Brian sings most of the lead

assume that this one was written by Brian and Freddie.
