Queen + Adam Lambert's hugely successful Rhapsody Tour was to continue through Europe with twenty-seven shows across nine countries in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the concerts for two years. As a consolation, the band released a live album featuring highlights of their various world tours from nine different venues between 2014 and 2020.

Live Around The World was released worldwide on October 2, 2020 on a variety of video and audio formats. DVD and Blu-ray releases feature two extra tracks, Roger Taylor's Drum Battle with son Rufus and Brian May's Guitar Solo - Last Horizon. The album was a success in the UK, giving Queen their first album #1 since Made In Heaven, their tenth overall.

A five track Live Around The World EP was released as part of Record Store Day on July 17, 2021 with an exclusive live track not featured on the parent album, I Want It All live from the 2014 Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo.
