Album Info
Queen's legendary performances at the Rainbow Theatre in
November 1974 had long been one of the most bootlegged Queen concerts. Recorded
live on November 19 and 20, the footage was shown throughout the 70s and
80s at British cinemas. A home release eluded fans for decades; the only
Rainbow related material was footage used for 1989's Rare Live and a half-hour,
edited VHS that was included in the 1992 Box Of Tricks box set. Stone Cold
Crazy was included as a B-side to The Miracle 7", 12" and CD singles.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary, Live At The Rainbow '74 was finally released
on a number of formats in September 2014. A composite of the November 19
and 20 shows were made available on CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray. A 2 CD or 4 LP
edition featured the November performance packaged with a March 1974 show
from the same venue. A 2 LP featured highlights from both shows. Footage
of only four tracks from the March show survived and were included as bonus
material on DVD and Blu-ray.
A Super Deluxe box set featured two CDs (the March and November shows),
Blu-ray, DVD, a book, and various pieces of replica memorabilia.
Live At The Rainbow '74 was a surprise chart success, reaching #11 in the
UK and #66 in the US. The album inspired Queen + Adam Lambert to include
some tracks on their 2014 North American Tour setlist.

Keep Yourself Alive - Live At The Rainbow '74 promo CD
This song version appears on a very rare Hollywood Records promo CD
promoting Live At The Rainbow '74 in the USA. The intro features more of
the song introduction by Freddie (which appears at the end of Fairy Feller's
Master-Stroke on the CD). At the opening Freddie says, "and I know
you know the words to this one. All you've got to do is clap along, sing
along to the choruses. It's called Keep Yourself Alive." The track
is the full performance of the song, combining the drum solo and reprise.
The song ends with a slight fade out of the audience cheering. The end does
not include the introduction to the next song (as it appears on the album
version).

The Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack features a mix of hits, revisited songs
and some excellent live tracks. Keep Yourself Alive from the March 1974
Rainbow Theatre concert is presented here with a unique edit. At 3:56, one
would assume it may just be the US Promo Single Version, but that is not
the case. While similar to that version, the intro monologue by Freddie
is a bit different. Details below:
- Album (FairyFeller ending): "I'll tell you what, it's time you all
joined in, everybody. And I know you know the words to this one. All you've
got to do is clap along, sing along the choruses. It's called...
- Album (KYA intro): "Keep Yourself Alive!"
- US Promo Single Version: "And I know you know the words to this one.
All you've got to do is clap along, sing along the choruses. It's called
Keep Yourself Alive!"
- Soundtrack Version: "I'll tell you what, it's time you all joined
in, everybody. It's called Keep Yourself Alive!"
