Album Info
Queen's second live album, Live Magic, was released a few
months after the band's most successful tour ever. The 26 date two-month
tour saw Queen mostly performing at huge outdoor venues and playing to over
a million people total. Queen sold out two nights at their now legendary
Wembley Stadium shows with demand being so high that Knebworth Park was
added as the final date of the tour.
Live Magic was culled performances from Wembley Stadium and Knebworth Park,
England, and in Budapest, Hungary. To fit as many songs as possible onto
a single LP, most of the original performances were edited for time on the
vinyl and cassette, whereas the CD release offered the full originals of
A Kind Of Magic, Another One Bites The Dust, and Hammer To Fall. Interestingly,
the original Japan CD used the vinyl/cassette edits.
Live Magic reached #3 on the UK chart. The album was not released in the
US at the time, finally coming out in 1996 from Hollywood Records.
