To support Queen's newest album, Hot Space, the band set out on a 30 date tour of Europe followed by an additional 39 dates in North America and Japan. The final concert of the European leg was held at the Milton Keynes Bowl, attracting approximately 65,000 people.

The new, exciting setlist consisted of the band's biggest hits and newest tracks from Hot Space, performed here with more of a rock edge. Thankfully the complete Milton Keynes concert was filmed and recorded. The Tube, a UK television music show aired a large portion of the concert as did MTV in the US.

Queen On Fire: Live At The Bowl was released on October 2004 in the UK on DVD and CD formats. The DVD topped the video music chart while the CD reached #20. The DVD added a second disc of bonus content including interviews, highlights from the November 3, 1982 Tokyo show and the May 12, 1982 Vienna show. A three LP vinyl box set was released June 6, 2005.

This edit of the eventual live album version is the same up until about 3:35 or so. At that point, the crowd noise fades out and there is no banter with the audience.

The iTunes video version differs from the Live At The Bowl album version. The iTunes opening has Freddie saying "get your dirty address books out and put this one in, I tell you, this next song. I have three words to say.. Fat Bottomed Girls!." The Live At The Bowl CD splits Freddie's opening between the end of Under Pressure and the beginning of Fat Bottomed Girls. The iTunes Video Version ends almost immediately after the last guitar noise, providing just a bit of audience reaction.
