Written by Roger Taylor
Appears on:
Outsider, Track 5
An unannounced surprise release, Gangsters Are Running This World premiered as a lyric video on YouTube on April 1, 2019. A week later, the main track and the Purple Version was made available for download and streaming on most major outlets like iTunes. Thematically, the song follows the same sentiment as The Unblinking Eye, serving as a sort of protest song to the current political climate. The music follows the same style heard on Journey's End and the album Happiness. Hints to this song's release started to surface on Roger's clothing line, which featured lyrics from this song printed on various garments. The song was later included on Roger's 2021 album Outsider.

Outsider, Track 7
The so-called Purple Version of Gangsters Are Running This World is a major departure from the standard track. This version sounds like a completely different song, sharing almost nothing except a title. Musically, it is much more rock oriented, featuring more guitar and drums. It wouldn't be out of place on an album by The Cross. Lyrically, again, it is completely different from the main track.

Outsider, Track 8
While on lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, Roger recorded a new song about these strange times. Isolation is a true solo project, with all instruments and vocals by Roger and production by Joshua J. Macrae. The song fits right in with the work he has done in recent years. Isolation was well received and topped the UK iTunes Rock Chart for a period of time. The track was later included on Roger's 2021 album Outsider.

Journey's End is an audio/video piece released by Roger Taylor in 2017 which topped the iTunes music video charts worldwide. The 7 minute epic was inspired by the many musician deaths of 2016 and deals with themes of Roger's own mortality. The track is reminiscent of songs from David Bowie's Blackstar album in both sound and lyrical content. An audio-only single was later made available as well.
