Play The Game (with Andy Gibb)

Written by Freddie Mercury
Performers: Queen + Andy Gibb

There is a rumored version of Play The Game that features Andy Gibb doing some sort of vocal work with Queen. It is still unknown if this has ever existed or if the tapes have survived over the years.

Another good Queen + project with a remixed backing track and nice vocals by Annie Crummer. Worth checking out.

The exact same as the regular version, just with the lead vocals removed. Nice to hear the remixed parts.

We Will Rock You (with Britney Spears, Beyonce, & Pink) (Pepsi 'Gladiators' Mix 2004) 3:07
Written by Brian May
Performers: Queen + Britney Spears, Beyonce, & Pink
Appears on: Pepsi 2004 Gladiators CD promo

An official audio release of the infamous Pepsi We Will Rock You commercial. The audio is the same that is featured in the commercial. I don't know if you would label this as being "good", but it is at least interesting.

Queen + David Bowie

Cool Cat (Original Version with David Bowie) 3:48
Written by John Deacon/Freddie Mercury
Appears on: Hot Space Test Pressing

Very similar to the album release, but featuring Bowie doing some backing vocals. Bowie's vocals actually add a weird element to the track. Definitely worth finding, although the current bootleg copies are not the best. Hopefully we'll see this on Queen Anthologies.

Under Pressure (Album Version) 4:03
Written by Queen/David Bowie
Appears on: Hot Space, Track 11

Under Pressure (Greatest Hits 2 Edit) 3:55
Written by Queen and David Bowie
Appears on: UK Greatest Hits II
, UK David Bowie: The Singles
A pointless edit for UK's Greatest Hits II. The only difference is the end lyrics "this is our last dance..." is only repeated once, as opposed to the normal two times.

Under Pressure (Classic Queen Remix) 4:02
Written by Queen and David Bowie
Appears on: Classic Queen
, US David Bowie: The Singles
Again, almost exactly like the album version. The bass lines seem to be a bit more prominent and the sound is a little less muddy. Freddie singing "that's okay!" has been removed right before Bowie sings "it's the terror of knowing..." A pointless and useless remix.

Under Pressure (Karaoke Version) 3:51
Written by Queen and David Bowie
Appears on: Greatest Karaoke Hits

A nice instrumental version which shows there's much more to this song than people may think. Track ends short of the album version by removing the finger snapping at the end. There is no click track to this karaoke version.

Under Pressure (Rah Mix) 4:08
Written by Queen and David Bowie
Performers: Queen + David Bowie
Appears on: Greatest Hits 3
, 1999 Under Pressure 12" vinyl promo, Queen + David Bowie/Elton John CD promo
A really good remix to promote the Greatest Hits 3 release. Features brand new lyrics to open the song from both Bowie and Freddie. The mix is bass heavy and features some neat guitar and vocal effects. This is more of a rock mix and isn't as dance oriented as the Hollywood mixes. A very nice remix that adds something new. Check this out just for the added lyrics at the beginning.

Under Pressure (Rah Mix Edit) 3:53
Written by Queen and David Bowie
Performers: Queen + David Bowie
Appears on: UK Under Pressure Rah Mix CD Single
, UK Under Pressure Rah Mix 7" vinyl
This mix is exactly the same as the regular Rah Mix, except that it's missing the 15 seconds of extra vocals from Bowie and Freddie at the beginning. It's a shame that one of the most interesting parts of the song was edited.

Under Pressure (Spencer Mix) 3:52
Written by Queen and David Bowie, Remixed by Mike Spencer
Performers: Queen + David Bowie
Appears on: UK Under Pressure Rah Mix CD Single
, Queen + David Bowie/Elton John CD promo
A nice remix that stays true to the original song. The bass line is much more prominent. The song opens with Bowie's backing humming edited in with Freddie's a capella opening. A few effects are added here and there which adds a bit to the song. Not a bad mix at all.

Under Pressure (Knebworth Mix) 4:17
Written by Queen and David Bowie
Performers: Queen + David Bowie
Appears on: UK Under Pressure Rah Mix CD Single

Recorded live at Knebworth Stadium. This live mix from Queen's last concert starts with Freddie doing his vocals exercises with the crowd and goes right into the live version of Under Pressure from that night's concert. Great to have just because this is the band's last performance of the song.

Under Pressure (2000 Club Mix) 5:21

Track begins with the strange guitar effects from the Rah Mix and pretty much remixes and rearranges the Rah Mix edit from that point on.

Queen + Eva María

No-One But You (Sólo Por Ti) (Long Version) 5:22
Written by Brian May
Performers: Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor) + Eva María
Appears on: We Will Rock You Spanish Cast Album
Updated version to promote the Spanish We Will Rock You musical. Eva María handles the vocals (which are in Spanish). The backing track is completely different as are the backing vocals (which aren't provided by Roger and Brian). An interesting version, with some nice new Red Special parts. Has a really long, atmospheric intro.

Performers: Queen (Brian May, Roger Taylor) + Five
Appears on: Five: Invincible

This is Brian and Roger with the UK boy band Five. The normal lyrics are now changed to raps by the members of Five. The chorus parts remain the same, and are sung by Five. Not as bad as you would think, but still not good.

Queen + 46664 (Studio)

The Call
Written by Brian May
Performers: Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor)
Appears on: Unreleased
(Has appeared on UK Radio)
This sounds very similar to Brian's solo work. Brian is more or less talking as opposed to singing. Chorus is a repeating of 4-6-6-6-4. Guitar work is very good, but not good enough to make this a track to listen to over and over. Kind of disappointing.

Amandla 4:39
Written by Dave Stewart and Brian May
Performers: Anastacia, Dave Stewart, Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor)
Appears on: 46664 website downloadable track

Doesn't sound like there is much Queen influence on this one. Great, soulful vocals by Anastacia and a nice chorus. The middle portion of the song has a prayer from Mr. Africa, which takes away from the song quite a bit. If you listen closely, you'll even hear some Red Special.

Invincible Hope 4:42
Written by Roger Taylor
Performers: Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor)
Appears on: 46664 website downloadable track

A very Roger sounding track. Has backing vocals from session musicians, which takes away from the song a bit. Roger's vocals are spot on and compliment the song very well. Brian's Red Special can be heard throughout. The backing beat does sound somewhat similar to Another One Bites The Dust however. Recommended.

Invincible Hope (One Year On Remix) 4:14
Written by Roger Taylor
Performers: Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor)
Appears on: iTunes exclusive 46664 - One Year On EP

A very good remix of the original track. You'll have to listen closely or you may not hear it. The percussion is snappier, more phased synthesizer has been added, and the vocals have been rearranged slightly with added echo and effects. The guitar parts are much more prominent and sound better. The ending has also been reworked featuring more of the chorus. The only negative is that Roger's "Hold on to your life.." lyric has been removed.

Say It's Not True (Original Studio Version)

Say It's Not True (Live with overdubs) 3:22

Appears on: 46664 The Nelson Mandela Concerts Part 1 - African Prayer

Great acoustic live performance by Queen + Dave Stewart. Brian and Dave play acoustic guitar while Roger handle lead vocals. The live album released featured a vocal overdub to replace lyrics of the original performance. The original performance had the lyric "magic potions for life..", which was replaced with "magic cocktails for life..."

Invincible Hope/The Call/The Show Must Go On 9:19
Written by Taylor/May/Queen
Performers: Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor), Treana Morris, Chris Thompson, Zoe Nicholas
Appears on: 46664 The Nelson Mandela Concerts Part 2 - Long Walk To Freedom

An okay medley for what it is. The medley starts with the beginning parts of Invincible Hope and goes right into the chorus. Brian sings the full version of The Call. The medley finishes with a good version of the Show Must Go On with various singers.

Toss The Feathers 3:33
Written by N/A (traditional Irish folk)
Performers: The Coors, Roger Taylor

Appears on: 46664 The Nelson Mandela Concerts Part 2 - Long Walk To Freedom

A traditional Irish folk song, typically featuring a pan flute and fiddle. This version with The Corrs and Roger Taylor is a bit more rock-friendly. A very good instrumental.

Is This The World We Created?

Written by Stewart/May/Anastacia/Bonsu
Performers: Anastacia, Dave Stewart, Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor), Bono, Andrews Bonsu
Appears on: 46664 The Nelson Mandela Concerts Part 3 - Amandla

Remains very faithful to the studio version and is a bit more up tempo. Bono's vocals add a bit to this one as well and are well suited to the song.

Bohemian Rhapsody/I Want It All/I Want To Break Free/Radio Ga Ga 8:24
Written by Mercury/Queen/Deacon/Taylor
Performers: Queen (Brian May, Roger Taylor), Zucchero, Thandiswa Mazwai
Appears on:
46664 The Nelson Mandela Concerts Part 3 - Amandla
Not a bad little medley. The opera part of Bohemian Rhapsody sounds interesting in this "Africanized" version by the Soweto Gospel Choir. Zucchero does a nice job with I Want It All. Thandiswa Mazwai apparently forgets everything about I Want To Break Free, and Roger rounds out the medley by performing Radio Ga Ga quite well.

We Will Rock You (46664 Live Version) 2:53
Written by Brian May
Performers: Queen (Brian May, Roger Taylor), Anastacia, Amampondo Drummers
Appears on: 46664 The Nelson Mandela Concerts Part 3 - Amandla

A very good live version featuring Anastacia on lead vocals. Anastacia pulls it off very well! Features extra "tribal" drumming by the Amampondo Drummers.

Anastacia, Cast
Appears on: 46664 The Nelson Mandela Concerts Part 3 - Amandla

Strangely enough this live version from the 46664 concert did not appear on the 46664 CD releases, but did appear on the DVD
. A proper CD single release happened later in 2004. This is an excellent live track and is highly recommended. I'm usually not a big fan of Zucchero, but this is actually very good.

Written by Brian May
Performers: Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor) + John Farnham
Appears on: Queen + John Farnham We Will Rock You promo CD, John Farnham: One Voice - Greatest Hits, True Colours - The World In Union

This track was recorded to promote the 2003 Rugby World Cup and is one of the best Queen + projects. The first 2 minutes features Farnham singing along to the normal backing track to We Will Rock You. The song then extends with added guitar by Brian. Farnham repeats the last verses and adds some additional vocals. Very nicely redone track.

Queen + Kerry Ellis

Written by John Deacon
Performers: Queen vs. The Miami Project

This is a calmer remix from the Miami Project, with some spacey synthesizers and effects. It runs a bit long, but isn't too bad.

Another One Bites The Dust (A Skillz Remix) 5:35
Written by John Deacon
Performers: Queen vs. The Miami Project
Appears on:
Queen vs. The Miami Project 12" clear vinyl, Queen vs. The Miami Project CD single
There are times in this remix when it doesn't seem to know what it's doing or where it's going, but not quite in the fun way a mix like the Long Dusted B-Boy version does. When you need to change everything up every 30 seconds to keep the mix going, you might want to ask yourself if you're accomplishing what you set out to do.

Another One Bites The Dust (Soul Avengerz Remix) 7:14
Written by John Deacon
Performers: Queen vs. The Miami Project
Appears on:
Queen vs. The Miami Project CD single
I guess the unwritten rule of the dance remix is: The longer, the better. This remix is long and as you would expect, it's rather repetitive. Repetition is not bad if it's something worth repeating. The original is such a simple, catchy song, that two things will grow out of its success: a lot of remixes and a lot of remixes like this one. They all start to sound the same and this one sounds the most the same.

From the 2001 film, A Knight's Tale. This is a completely new recording featuring Brian on guitar/backing vocals, Roger on drums/backing vocals, and Robbie Williams on lead vocals. The track starts with a neat spacey intro. Robbie's vocals seem kind of harsh the first few listens, but his voice kind of grows on you. Features an awesome new guitar solo by Brian.

With a running time the same as the regular mix, it's hard to tell the difference between the two. The regular mix fades out at the end, where this one ends without the fade. I'm not sure if this was ever released as a single.

We Are The Champions (with Robbie Williams) (Original Take)

Queen + Vanguard

Flash (Radio Edit) 3:16
Written by Brian May, Remixed by Vanguard
Appears on:

This is a much better mix than the longer versions. Pretty much repeating techno beats, with Queen singing the Flash chrous, and some samples from the movie. Some other samples from the original version are included with added effects to the vocals. If you must listen to one version of this mix, this would be it.

Flash (Extended Mix a.k.a. A1 Mix) 6:36

Written by Brian May, Remixed by Vanguard
Appears on:
Queen + Vanguard Flash 12" vinyl (Yellow Sleeve),
Dutch Queen + Vanguard CD single
Ugh. I'm surprised this even got released, but this remix was supposedly popular in Germany. The first 50 seconds are a beat loop that kills any anticipation to hear the song. It features the typical dance mix backbeat, Queen singing the chorus parts, Ming's sample from the movie, and a lot of looping. It even manages to take out the best part of the song - Freddie's "just a man..." vocal solo.

Flash (Electro Mix) 7:23
Written by Brian May, Remixed by Vanguard
Appears on:
Queen + Vanguard Flash 12" vinyl (Yellow Sleeve)
Wow, they were able to turn the 6 1/2 minute Vanguard piece of crap into 7 1/2 minutes of worse crap. Features some more samples from the movie, some electronic sound effects, and a much faster dance backbeat.

Flash (Tomcraft Remix) 7:06
Written by Brian May, Remixed by Vanguard
Appears on:
Queen + Vanguard Flash 12" vinyl (Red Sleeve),

At least this one sounds a bit different. This remix features a much different dance backbeat and looping. Much better than the Electro Mix, but still kind of crappy, and at over 7 minutes, who cares?

Flash (Smith and Selway Remix) 7:22
Written by Brian May, Remixed by Vanguard

Again, more dance beat goodness (or should I say badness) with the occasional inclusion of Flash's Theme. This one is mostly an electronic looping instrumental.

The best of the Wyclef Jean mixes by far. The backing track of the original song has been maintained more, with the bass riff being looped. The track starts with a vocal intro by Wyclef pondering if he can be a black rock star. All of Wyclef's and Freddie's parts from the LP version have been maintained. I recommend this one over the LP version, just because more of the original song is maintained. Some of Brian's guitars even come through now and again.

An effective and a to the point edit of the Main Pass Mix. The edit probably works a little better than the full version just because there is little filler.
