We Will Rock You (BBC Session 6) 4:19

Written by Brian May
Appears on: Unreleased

Queen's sixth BBC Radio session was recorded in October 1977 at Maida Vale Studio 4; this We Will Rock You version is one of the highlights of all the BBC Sessions. This version begins with a new recording of the standard first verses of the "slow" version that appears on the album take. After the guitar solo, there is a reading from Siddartha by Herman Hesse. The remaining part of the song is the only studio version of the "fast" version of We Will Rock You (which Queen used to play at live concerts). This is an awesome version and worth tracking down. A crown jewel in the unreleased catalogue.

Queen's 1982 Hot Space Tour was arguably it's best by the time they reached Japan. This fast version of We Will Rock You comes from their performance at Seibu Lions Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. It is not that different from the other live fast versions of this song, but it's still a great performance.

Also known as Ruined by Rick Rubin on the CD single, not to be confused with the one on the 12" vinyl promo, which is a different remix. An interesting remix, but gets tiresome after the first 2 1/2 minutes. It starts with the sound of a needle being placed on a record, plays a bit of the album take, and then goes into the remix. The track also features some scratching and drumming effects. The last half of the song is a loop (that lasts way too long) of Brian's guitar and the band singing the chorus. The end features some sampled voices and a fade-out.

A very concise edit of the 5:00 version. The song has all of the additional production added by Rubin, but follows the structure of the original song much more closely. This is recommended over the 5:00 version.

Recorded in October 1977 at Maida Vale Studio 4, Queen's 6th BBC Radio session was a great one. This version of Spread Your Wings has the tempo of the live versions, a little faster and more upbeat. This version has a great guitar/piano solo, with awesome drumming from Roger as well. The solo takes the song to all the way to the end. This has been bootlegged for years, but finally saw a proper, remastered release in 2011.

Queen's sixth BBC Radio session was recorded in October 1977 at Maida Vale Studio 4. This version of It's Late is not that big of a departure from the album version, until the middle of the song. The instrumental solo in the middle has been replaced with the a solo similar to Get Down, Make Love. The middle part sounds kind of odd with this song. Still, just like the rest of Session 6, this one is worth getting.

Feelings Feelings

Feelings Feelings (Take 9) 1:57
Written by Brian May
Appears on: Unreleased

This unreleased track starts with studio chatter saying "Number Nine," probably because this is take nine. A fun, simple rock track with guitar the whole way through and great vocals by Freddie. Feelings Feelings was rumored to have been written early in Queen's career. It's beyond me why this one was left off the album or used as a B-side.

Feelings Feelings (Take 10) 1:54

Appears on: UK 2011 News Of The World Deluxe CD

Finally, this unreleased studio gem gets an official release on the 2011 Bonus EP of News Of The World. This version is one take later than the familiar leaked Take 9 demo that has been widely bootlegged. According to the liner notes, this song does date back to 1970 or 1971. Take 10 of Feelings Feelings was recorded at Basing Street Studios in London, sometime in July of 1977. The song's basic structure is mostly the same as Take 9, but the performance does differentiate itself in places, particularly Freddie's vocal. Highly recommended and a great bonus track to the 2011 re-releases.
